Oak & Iron (formally Wallis Tavern) offers casual family dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Soak up the gardens through the large glass frontage, enjoy all weather outdoor dining or cosy winter dining by the feature gas fireplace. Easy access and flexible seating allows for a dinner for two or a large group.
Our Chef designed menu offers a contemporary, seasonal food offering, incorporating local products, local suppliers and our own garden sourced aromatics. Our in-house pastry chef creates all our own cakes, desserts and savouries as well as daily baked bread for the bistro.

Our Renowned Chef ~ Andrew Norris
Setting the New Standard
As the former Executive Chef at the Royal Albert Hall, London for 31/2 years, Andrew has cooked for Ambassadors, celebrities and the Royal Family including the Queen. Following his time at Royal Albert Hall, Andrew spent several months as the Chef on a 120 metre Super yacht owned by a Swiss Millionaire. They sailed from Gibraltar to Thailand via Sri Lanka with eight crew of different nationalities and the owner and his guests when they chose to join the trip. Andrew had to plan and shop for food for the entire trip but had to improvise and dehydrate sea water when he ran out of salt! With crew from the likes of Germany, France and Thailand, Andrew developed a knowledge and love for food from various regions.
He has also catered for private functions for Royalty and Ambassadors at the Royal Albert Hall, served canapes to millionaires on yachts, catered the World’s Biggest Lunch at the GMEX in Manchester, served dinner for over 2000 in Battersea Park, and cooked a $10,000 dinner for 2 people. Now he brings all this experience to us at Auchendarroch House to create a special function, event or wedding for you as well as, delivering an exciting menu in our Oak & Iron Bistro.
